UK Envoy to Bulgaria Lauds Borisov-Cameron Talks

The British Ambassador in Sofia, Jonathan Allen, has officially expressed Wednesday his deep satisfaction from the successful talks between Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and UK counterpart, David Cameron.

Allen says the meeting will have an exceptionally beneficial influence on bilateral relations.Cameron has given high marks to the excellent partnership between the British and Bulgarian intelligence and special services communities, and has committed to their further expansion, particularly in the fight against terrorism. The UK PM has also expressed condolences over the July 18 the terror act at the Burgas Sarafovo airport in Bulgaria, which killed 5 Israeli tourists and their Bulgarian bus driver.

The two country leaders have further discussed the matters of energy security and growth in Europe with Cameron stressing the nearly complete accord between the two countries in reducing regulations and encourage innovations in order to achieve economic growth.

Borisov has praised the excellent organization of the 2012 London Olympic Games to which his UK colleague has replied that the Games are proof of Great Britain’s capability to realize complex infrastructure projects such as the Olympic Park, built on time and schedule, within the budget frame, and without any fatal work-related incidents.

The Ambassador further announces that a British Deputy Interior Minister will visit Bulgaria in the fall as a follow up of the successful meeting.

“This will be yet another opportunity to strengthen our bilateral relations and achieve further success in our joint initiatives in the areas of security, energy, and growth,” Allen concludes.
