United States and Italy provide support for France in Mali

United States helped France to flew troops and supplies into Mali, while Italy’s lawmakers voted to also provide assistance.

The US mission started on Monday with two C-17 flights from southern France loaded with cargo and dropping it off in Mali. The flights are expected to continue for several days.

This mission was requested by France.

Italy’s lawmakers voted to send between 15 to 24 military instructors who will work together with European Union in training Malian forces. Italy also decided to provide logistical support.

Canada and United Kingdom are deploying military transport aircraft and Nigeria will deploy soldiers to fight the insurgents.

The battle continues to push back rebel forces on the ground.
