Georgian PM says South Caucasus needs international community support

South Caucasus needs the support of the international community more than ever, since the prospects of conflict resolution are not seen and there is still risk that they may resume, Georgian PM said.

“Unfortunately, there is still the risk of regional conflicts. The region has emerged as one of the most difficult areas of post-Soviet transformation. In this small area there are two interstate and three regional conflicts. The prospects for resolving these conflicts are not visible yet. Today, South Caucasus needs maximum involvement and support of the international community more than ever,” Ivanishvili said.

“We are absolutely ready to join NATO, but some processes interfere with this, in particular, this is compounded by the fact that a part of our territories is occupied. However, I think thanks to our activity and continuation of the strategy, Georgia will become a NATO member country in the near future,” he added.
