Turkish FM and Russian counterpart discuss Syria situation

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, June 26 as preparations for the Geneva II conference to find a path to a solution for the deadlock in Syria are ongoing.

Lavrov gave Davutoğlu details on the preliminary meeting between the United States, Russia and the United Nations for the international conference to be held in Geneva. For his part, Davutoğlu has shared some information about talks at the “Friends of Syria” core group meeting in Qatar last week.

The two countries’ top diplomats have agreed to meet on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations conference in Brunei next week.
