Bosniak Soldier Jailed for Jablanica Woman’s Murder

Former Bosnian Army serviceman Zehrudin Scuk was sentenced to six years in prison for killing a female civilian in the village of Krkaca near Jablanica in 1993.

The cantonal court in Mostar on Thursday convicted Scuk of the murder of Iva Pavlovic on July 28, 1993 for a second time, after the verdict from a previous trial was quashed by the supreme court and the case sent for retrial.

‘The defendant came to the yard of Anica and Stipe Zelenika, along with two other Bosnian Army soldiers, and Ruza Tutis and her sister Iva Pavlovic were there,’ the verdict said.

‘Scuk asked them whether they had a gun and Iva replied that they did not. Scuk then entered the house and found a gun, then approached Iva and told her: ‘You are going to suffer.’ After that he shot her in the neck, and Iva Pavlovic died of those injures,’ it said.

The verdict can be appealed at the supreme court.
