Twelve suspected jihadists arrested in central Mali, where the army launched an operation

Twelve suspected jihadists were recently arrested in central Mali and transferred to the capital, Bamako, said Tuesday AFP Malian military sources, while the army has launched a massive operation in the region.
“Twelve jihadists arrested last week in the region of Mopti (center) by the Malian army were transferred on Monday in Bamako. Some of them are accused of planting mines that killed last month by Malian soldiers to the village of Ténenkou “said a Malian officer interviewed by telephone from Bamako.
“Accomplices of criminals wanted to lead a military operation to free them before their transfer to Bamako,” said the source on condition of anonymity.
In another Malian military source, “all those arrested terrorists are members of the Macina Liberation Front”, a group appeared earlier this year in the region and led by the radical preacher Fulani Amadou Kufa.
“All arrived under guard in Bamako since Monday. The interrogations began for details, information, “he told AFP an officer of the gendarmerie.
The arrests come at a time when the Malian army launched a major operation in a part of the Mopti region, “stalk” jihadists, and ensure the safety of goods and people.
Dubbed “Seno operation” (“sand” in Peul language), the patrol is to last three months “with the necessary means,” the Defense Ministry, not otherwise specified.
