Mali govt, armed groups agree on the organization of peace forum

The Malian government and former armed groups have agreed to organize a forum on peace and national reconciliation in Mali between March 27-30, 2016, to put a closure on the “Algiers peace process,” said a source during the weekend.
The revelations were made by Sidi Brahim Ould Sidatt, a representative of former armed groups, following a series of consultations held in Bamako from 19 to 26 February, after meeting with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita Mali on Saturday in Bamako.
Ould Sidatt declared a two-month calendar, between March and April 2016 for the implementation of activities that will ensure public safety and to restore normalcy in the entire national territory, was adopted.
To achieve this goal, he said, several activities have been planned. They include the establishment of intermediate local authorities increased security deployments to contribute to the protection of people and the acceleration of the implementation of the peace agreement that was signed in 2015.
