Lamamra: Algeria won’t be involved in military intervention in Libya or elsewhere

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Thursday that Algeria “will not be involved in military intervention in Libya or elsewhere,” insisting on the need for political solution to the Libyan crisis.
In a statement to the press following his talks with Angolan counterpart, Lamamra said that in its consultations with the concerned parties, Algeria always privileges the need for political solution to the Libyan crisis.
The minister stressed that “the military intervention has no chance to solve this crisis, whether sooner or later and any military intervention in Libya will cause more damage and human loss.”
He reiterated that Algeria “supports Libya right to establish the system it consider suitable for its people,” adding that the international community must “use its weigh to find a peaceful and consensual solution starting from the installation of the long-awaited national unity government.”
Concerning the decision of the Gulf Cooperation Council of qualifying the Lebanese Hizbollah as a “terrorist organization”, Lamamra recalled the Algerian position which is the non-interference in the internal affairs of counties, stressing that it concerns a “political and military movement which is a key element in the Lebanese internal political scene.”
