Libya: Over 25,000 families displaced from Sirte

Mayor of Sirte, Mukhtar Al Madani met in Tripoli officials from Libya Charity Organization led by Nehad Maitiq.
The meeting focused on difficult humanitarian situation faced by the displaced families from Sirte. The mayor said they agreed on a work plan and a humanitarian support plan for the families displaced outside the city. Sirte government officials are in cooperation with local charity institutions and international organizations such as the International Red Cross to efficiently and effectively respond to needs.
In statement to LANA, Al Madani said they agreed on offering humanitarian aid by ‘For You Libya charity’ to over 25,000 displaced families from Sirte.
Aid will target multiple aspects, including the housing rent problem, liquidity at banks, access to public and university education, and more. Sirte has seen an increased Daesh presence and fighting, destroying the infrastructure and pushing families outside the city.
On her part Nehad Amatiq head of For you Libya Charity praised efforts made by Sirte Municipal Council especially taking stock of all families displaced from Sirte in various Libyan cities and regions. The organization is hoping to track and register all families that need assistance.
