France on Tuesday ruled out a military solution in Libya, reiterating commitment to dialogue to end the crisis.

During a recent visit to Tunisia, the French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed Paris commitment to a political solution in Libya through dialogue, Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said in a statement.

This is the core of the ongoing UN-backed political process, he noted.

Nadal urged all the Libyan parties to practise self-restraint.

Since the fall of the Muammar Gaddafi Regime late in 2011, the country has been facing a severe security and economic crisis that has cast shadow on some countries of the region.

Last February, the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi announced an initiative that was backed by Algeria for launching a dialogue among the Libyan parties with the major aim of reaching a political solution in Libya.
