The Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, issued Sunday an order to form a join force to end conflicts and prevail security in Tripoli led by the commander of western military zone Brigadier General Osama Al-Juwaili.

The force, according to Al-Sirraj, will be formed of three infantry brigades and an interior ministry unit to establish security, protect residents, oversee the ceasefire, and communicate with the conflict’s parties by referring them to another will-be formed committee.

“The leaders of the brigades joining the joint force should be military officials and must use arms that are needed in establishing security.” The order adds.

“The joint force shall be working at the orders and tactics made by the Commander in Chief. The forces shall also be deployed in areas marked on the attached map only.” The order says.

It also says that Al-Juwaili can communicate with all parties to specify areas of repositioning of conflicting armed groups, adding that he can contact the UNSMIL for any needed coordination.

Al-Sirraj also issued an order to form a committee to reconsider the detainees’ conditions and charges in Mitiga airport’s prison which is run by the Special Deterrence Force.

“Those who have been detained for times that exceed what is allowed by the law must be released.” The order says.
