Tomislav Mercep, a Croatian former assistant interior minister, is to stand trial for war crimes on February 10 at Zagreb County Court, the court announced. The indictment charges Mercep with responsibility for the killing of 43 civilians

Romanian PM Emil Boc has announced his resignation in an attempt to calm unrest at his austerity measures. Boc resigned on Monday morning after weeks of protests against his tough austerity measures.

Hashim Thaci said recently that he is ready to meet with Serbian President Boris Tadić. The meeting, he said, should focus on all the problems that weigh on relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
