Djiboutian President Meets the Leader

Visiting Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh and his accompanying delegation met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Tuesday, September 5.

Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Leader stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran earnestly favors the expansion of ties and cooperation among all the Islamic countries. He added that the proper utilization of the numerous capabilities possessed by the Islamic countries will help to promote the progress of the Muslim Ummah and greatly contribute to the prosperity of mankind.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that expansionist and belligerent powers have always sought to prevent the Islamic Ummah from using its great potentials and capabilities.

“With the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran the spirit of self-confidence in the Iranian youngsters was greatly bolstered, and we are now witnessing considerable achievements in the fields of science and technology in our country. The attainment of nuclear technology and the peaceful use of nuclear energy is one of these achievements,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

Further in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Republic pointed out that expansionist powers foment wars and military conflicts in the sensitive Middle East region with the intention of promoting the sale of their arms and weapons.

“Western countries are giving weapons instead of money in return for the oil that they are purchasing from regional countries. As a result, they always try to foment wars and military conflicts in the region. Indeed, these countries have a dark record of creating wars and causing bloodshed for the past 150 years,” the Leader remarked.

Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to war and bloodshed, Ayatollah Khamenei told the Djiboutian president that Iran is ready to transfer its experiences and achievements in the fields of science and technology to the entire Islamic Ummah.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader stressed the need for the Islamic countries to trust each other and define their position on the Islamic front and also not to confuse the Islamic front with that of the enemies of Islam.

Ayatollah Khamenei further expressed hopes that the agreements reached between the two countries during President Guelleh’s visit to Iran would be carried into effect as soon as possible through the follow-up measures on the part of both countries.

President Ismail Omar Guelleh, for his part, expressed pleasure over his second visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran and underlined the fact that the two countries share common stances on various regional and international issues.

“Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is the standard-bearer of the real Islam and the only country resisting the enemies of Islam,” the Djiboutian president pointed out.

Referring to his negotiations with his Iranian counterpart, President Guelleh told the Leader of the Islamic Republic that the officials of the two countries have decided to follow through their previous agreements and also take some concrete measures to further expand the cooperation between Iran and Djibouti in various areas of activity.
