Iran Opposed to Production, Use of N. Weapons

“The detrimental consequences of the utilization of nuclear weapons will affect the entire humanity, while it may not yield any benefit to anyone,” Elham told reporters.

Asked to comment on North Korea’s nuclear test on Monday, the spokesman stressed that Iran is strongly opposed to any kind of deployment of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), nuclear weapons in particular.

Addressing those states in opposition to Iran’s access to nuclear technology, he said big powers had better start nuclear disarmament from their own countries.

He stressed that Iran has frequently declared both its opposition to the deployment of nuclear weapons and its views and stances on general disarmament, adding, “If big powers move along the path of self-disarmament, then they can rest assured that they will have the support of other countries, specially the Islamic ones.”
