TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Swiss charge d’affaires in Tehran to reflect the Islamic Republic’s strong protest at the savage behavior of the US police towards an Iranian student of California University.In absence of formal diplomatic relations between Tehran and Washington, Switzerland’s embassy represents US interest section in Iran.
A report released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said that the Swiss charge d’affaires, in absence of that country’s ambassador to Tehran, was called to the Foreign Ministry to follow up on the case of the Iranian student of California University, Mostafa Tabataba’ee Nezhad and in line with the restoration of his rights.
During the session, director of the Foreign Ministry’s first Office for American Affairs Ali Akbar Reza’ee urged the Swiss diplomat to reflect Iran’s official protest to the concerned US officials and further advise the Iranian foreign ministry of the results of the measures adopted in this regard.
Earlier Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini had voiced Iran’s strong protest at the behavior of the US police towards the Iranian student in California, and stressed Iran’s firm determination to defend the rights and interests of Iranian nationals in every corner of the world.
