UNSC Resolution 1737 Defective, Unjustifiable

A0250702.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Since referral of Iran’s case to the UNSC lacked legality from the onset, Iran perceives no reason to accept the UN Security Council Resolution 1737, an Iranian MP said here on Tuesday.

Speaking to FNA in the western Iranian city of Kermanshah, member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Felahat-Pisheh said, “We are not bound to abide by Resolution 1737 because it contains many legal problems and discrepancies.”

Meantime, he stressed that sanctions play no effect on Iran’s resolve to make further nuclear progress, reminding that Iran’s home-grown nuclear technology has been developed while the country was under sanctions.

The legislative official further lashed out at the double standards of the permanent UN Security Council members, specially when dealing with international issues, and further blasted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for pursuing a policy of double standard and hypocrisy in the face of Iran and Israel’s nuclear issue.

He underlined that the world community cannot digest IAEA’s support for Israel’s military nuclear activities while sanctioning Iran’s peaceful civilian nuclear technology.
