TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the western countries should take a lesson from the grave consequences of Saddam’s imposed war on Iran and his fate.Addressing a congregation of the public in the southwestern city of Andimeshk in Iran’s oil rich Khuzestan province on Wednesday, Ahmadinejad reminded the United States’ supports for Saddam during his war on Iran and mentioned, “Once they motivated Saddam to invade Iran, but after he was defeated by the Iranian nation, the same powers entered Iraq chanting the slogan of Iraq’s welfare and took Saddam down.”
“In fact they raided Iraq for the sake of their own interests and not for rescuing the Iraqi people,” he continued.
He further pointed to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime, United States and Britain in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq, and reminded, “During the last four years, over 150 thousand of the Iraqi people have been killed and 600 thousand more have been wounded while security has been shattered in the capital city of Baghdad.”
“And today, they are seeking to damage Iraq’s glory and grandeur,” he continued.
The president called on the western countries to take a lesson from the consequence of Saddam’s war on Iran and his fate, and noting the recent UN Security Council resolution against Iran, he said, “They want to confront our nation in order to dominate us while they are, through psychological warfare, seeking to attain the same goals that they sought during the 8 years of imposed war on Iran.”
Elsewhere, in the city of Shoush, Ahmadinejad said that the bullying powers are seeking to materialize their goals and attain their interests through intimidating the world nations.
Referring to the Untied States and Zionist regime’s crimes in the region and massacre of the Lebanese, Palestinian and Iraqi people, he reminded, “Once they supported Saddam by all means, but when they realized that his aggressions and crimes contradicted their interests, they ousted him from power and executed him.”
The tour of Khuzestan is the 24th provincial visit of the president and his cabinet. President Ahmadinejad and his ministers have already had a tour of the provinces of South Khorassan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Ilam, Qom, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Golestan, Kohkilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Khorassan Razavi, Zanjan, Markazi, Qazvin, Hamedan, East Azerbaijan, Tehran, North Khorassan, Kurdistan, West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Mazandaran and Kermanshah.
