Speaking to reporters after signing a joint statement and memorandum of understanding with his Nicaraguan counterpart Daniel Ortega, President Ahmadinejad said that the Nicaraguan people and government are symbols of struggle for independence of Central America.

He said that the Iranian and Nicaraguan nations will continue to support the progress and stability of all the free nations of the world, including the nations in Latin America, specially with regard to the fact that the people in Latin America are seeking justice.

The president further mentioned that today people in America, Africa and Asia are all vigilant and fight oppression and aggression, and continued, “The era of bullying is over.”

The chief executive official took the wrong policies of certain powers responsible for the problems plaguing the world today, and stressed, “What the world needs today is the kind of governments that seek justice and are service-oriented.”

He further expressed regret that certain powers are fond of bullying and looting instead of helping build better lives for their nations, and reminded that any administration seeking economic gains for itself will produce nothing but poverty and discrimination.

“Besides the Iranian people, other nations are also ready to support and help Nicaragua,” the president pointed out.

Pointing to the two countries’ abundant grounds for bilateral cooperation, he mentioned that during their earlier meeting, the two sides had signed a comprehensive agreement on the expansion of cooperation in various fields including energy, industry, development and trade.

Ahmadinejad once again extended an invitation to Ortega and his wife to pay a visit to Iran.

For his part, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega noted the endorsement of a joint statement and a memorandum of understanding by the two sides, and expressed the hope that the enhanced relations between the two countries would help to the eradication of poverty in his country.

He further appreciated Iran’s aids and assistances to his country, saying that such measures testify to the friendly and brotherly ties between the two countries.

Stressing the importance of unity, Ortega said his country regards the visit of President Ahmadinejad to Managua as an indication of Iran’s readiness to strengthen friendship and boost cooperation.

He also stated that Iran and Nicaragua, on behalf of the two important regions i.e. the Middle-East and Latin America, are decisive to boost cooperation in all areas.
