Quakes Hit Southwestern Iran

A023289015.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Two earthquakes measuring 4.4 and 4 on the Richter scale jolted Haft-gol and Bagh Malek in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quakes were registered at 13:42:03 and 13:44:06 hours local time (10:12:03 and 10:14:06 GMT) and were epicentered in an area measuring 76.49 and 64.49 degrees in longitude and 45.31 and 48.31 degrees in latitude, respectively.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quakes.

Hectic fault lines have made Iran a host to frequent earthquakes of varying degrees in magnitude.
