Official Defines Muslim Unity as a Strategic Policy

A02624082.jpgHead of Iran’s judiciary Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi viewed unity and solidarity of Muslim nations as a strategic policy for the world of Islam. Shahroudi made the remarks in a meeting with the leader of Indonesia’s Nahzatol Olama (religious scholars’ movement) Islamic Organization, where he also stressed the need for the world Muslims to safeguard their unity under the present conditions.

“All throughout the Islamic history, Muslims’ unity has always resulted in the empowerment of Islam,” he said, adding that the world of Islam is in desperate need of protecting unity of Muslims under the present conditions.

The Iranian official further called on Islamic scholars in different countries to study and explore ways and principles of securing Islamic unity and integrity, and identify factors damaging Muslim unity in a bid to warn the public about such elements and factors.

Also stressing the vital mission of religious scholars for increasing Muslims’ vigilance, he said, “Today enemies of Islam have targeted solidarity and unity of the different Islamic groups by their frequent plots and they aim to divert Muslim people from the path of righteousness. Therefore, religious scholars play a vitally crucial role in safeguarding Muslim unity and supporting Islam and development of correct Islamic thoughts and principles.”

He further described establishment of unity among Islamic nations as a strategic policy instructed by the holy Koran and Prophet of Islam and as a countermeasure against the age old and everlasting plots hatched by the world arrogant and colonialist powers for sowing discord among Muslims.

Noting the remarkable role of the Islamic Revolution of Iran in defusing such plots, he said the skillful leadership of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the Late Imam Khomeini, and his successor the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, present a convenient paradigm for the role that Islamic scholars can play in establishing unity and integrity among Muslim.
