Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic countries will be able to solve the Palestinian issue through enhanced coordination and by focusing on the interests of the Palestinian nation. According to a statement released by the Presidential Press Office, Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a phone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday, where the two sides discussed expansion of bilateral ties and exchanged views about international and regional issues, the Middle-East in particular.
Also during the phone talk which took place at the request of Musharraf, the Iranian president stressed the two neighboring countries’ ample potentials for developing bilateral ties and playing a role in resolving the problems of the world of Islam,.
He further voiced Tehran’s enthusiasm for the increasing expansion of relations with Islam Abad in all the various grounds in a bid to help Pakistan’s progress.
Elsewhere, Ahmadinejad viewed Palestine as the most crucial issue of the world of Islam, and said that the oppressed Palestinian people and resistant groups are the main players in solving the problem, underscoring that no one has the right to give up even an iota of the Palestinians’ cause.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought materialization of justice-based and lasting peace, and it believes that Islamic countries can solve the Palestinian issue through increased coordination and focusing on the interests of the Palestinian nation,” the Iranian president reiterated.
For his part, Pakistani president stressed that his country attaches special significance to the Islamic Republic and to the consolidation of its ties with Tehran, adding that, “Islam Abad has always defended Iran at the international bodies and it is keen on reinvigorating cooperation with Tehran.”
Pervez Musharraf noted his plan for resolving the Palestinian issue, and said that formation of an independent Palestinian government based on coordinated moves and stances of the Muslim countries constitutes the main and most significant part of his plan.
“To solve the different issues of the world of Islam, specially Iraq and Palestine, attention to the view points of the Iraqi and Palestinian groups is indispensable, and Muslim countries should pioneer in the restoration of stability and tranquility in these regions,” he concluded.
