Iran’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Hamid Reza Asefi on Sunday met with UAE’s Foreign Minister Abdallah bin Zayid al-Nuhayyan and discussed with him expansion of bilateral ties. During the meeting, al-Nuhayyan voiced satisfaction at the progressive trend of the two countries’ relations, and said that his country attaches special significance to cooperation with Iran.
He also renewed his invitation to Iranian President Ahmadinejad for paying a visit to the UAE, and expressed the hope that the trip would be taken in the near future.
For his part, Iranian envoy stressed Iran’s resolve to develop relations with her neighbors, particularly the UAE, saying that Tehran believes cooperation among regional states reinvigorates security, peace and stability in the strategic region of the Middle-East.
He assessed the recent visit to Tehran and talks with the Iranian officials by the UAE foreign minister as positive, and reminded emphasis Iran lays on continued exchange of views between the two sides at the highest levels possible, concluding that Tehran considers the measure as a significant back up for the two countries’ long-term, and meantime age-old, ties.
