Iran, Azerbaijan to Study Caspian Legal Status

A01850218.jpgIranian and Azeri foreign ministers agreed to attend a meeting in Tehran in mid June to study the legal status of the Caspian Sea. According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, the issue was raised during a meeting between the two ministers on the sidelines of the 34th ministerial meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Islamabad, Pakistan on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides also stressed the need for the further consolidation and development of mutual ties.

The Iranian foreign minister also extended an invitation to his Azeri counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran to discuss reinvigoration of relations, mutual cooperation and Caspian-related issues.

The two top diplomats also reiterated consolidation of political relations, and discussed other issues of mutual interest.
