Missing US attaché in Cyprus found dead

Missing US defence attaché Thomas Mooney was found dead by police on Monday (July 2nd), after going missing on Thursday. Sources tell AP the body was found near his locked car in a remote rural area. An autopsy showed he bled to death from an apparently self-inflicted wound to the throat.In other news, Michael Moeller, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s special representative for Cyprus, welcomed the identification of the bodies of 28 people, missing since the Cyprus conflict. Over 1,400 Greek Cypriots and 500 Turkish Cypriots remain listed as missing. In all, 270 sets of remains have been unearthed on both sides of the ceasefire line following an agreement last year.
