Officials in Jerusalem said on Wednesday that Syria’s declarations that it did not want a war were important but that its actions would determine the future, Israel Radio reported.
The sources also added that both countries were not interested in war so there was no reason for one to erupt, although Syria was still reinforcing its army and arming Hizbullah in Lebanon.
Likewise, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Israel did not want war with Syria but “we will continue to prepare in order to be ready for anything.”
Barak was speaking during an IDF tank exercise on the Golan Heights.
