A renowned Iranian researcher called on the country to use potentials to speed up scientific growth to top regional countries in producing science, reminding that Iran’s giant potentials caused a ten-time increase in its scientific productions from 1997 to 2006. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the national convention of the elites here in Tehran on Sunday, Shamspour also pointed out that among the 57 Muslim countries Iran ranks the second in producing science, and said, “We can triple the country’s scientific productions to join the first 20 countries of the world and become the number one country of the Middle-East and the world of Islam in producing science.”
The researcher also stressed the need for the country to allocate a bigger share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to research, and said Iran enjoys high potentials in the field of science and technology.
