The Foreign Ministry will pursue the case with the Iranian national who has been beaten in the United States, the ministry spokesman said here on Tuesday. Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini further expressed concern and regret about the beating of the Iranian National, Zohreh Asemi, in New York, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said.
Stressing that Iranian Foreign Ministry is handling the case very seriously and with much sensitivity, the spokesman reiterated that Iran’s representative office in New York and the interest section in Washington have and will always make maximum efforts to defend and restore the rights of Iranian nationals residing in the United States.
The Iranian woman Zohreh Asemi was severely beaten up and stabbed by two racist Americans who called her a “terrorist”. The attackers have reportedly hammered the 50-year-old Iranian on the head and stabbed her face and body several times.
Zohreh has been living in the US for the past 25 years and has been running a beauty saloon in New York for 12 years. The attackers damaged her saloon and wrote anti-Islamic slogans on its mirrors.
