Iran Condemns US Blacklisting of IRGC

A03292221.jpgIranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini has strongly condemned the US House of Representatives’ decision to declare the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization, calling it an “irresponsible and illegal” act. “This act is strange and unprecedented,” Hosseini said here on Wednesday, Tehran Times reported.

Iran is a member of the United Nations and the decision to brand one of its armed forces as a terrorist group is “worthless and invalid”, he added.

Actions like this will never help efforts to establish world peace and international security and will only prepare the ground for others to brand legal organizations of other countries “foreign terrorist organizations” without taking international treaties into consideration, due to their ad hoc theories based on delusions, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill calling on the State Department to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist organization
