Putin: Russia Aids Iran in Developing Civilian N. Programs

A0090568132.jpgRussian President Vladimir Putin here on Tuesday reiterated Moscow’s assistance to Iran’s peaceful nuclear programs. Speaking to reporters during a joint press conference with his Iranian, Turkmen, Kazakh and Azeri counterparts, Putin voiced support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, and said, “There is an organization in Russia which renders help to Iran’s civilian nuclear programs.”

“In this summit all the countries announced their commitment to peaceful nuclear drives and objectives,” he added.

Elsewhere, the Russian president described the second summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states as “really active”, and said, “We got close to the important issues of the Caspian Sea and agreed to continue this trend.”

Putin also said that there existed a consensus over a majority of the issues.

He further reiterated that sovereignty of the Caspian Sea is an issue merely related to the littoral states.

Putin viewed other decisions adopted during the summit as much crucial, and said, “This summit was very successful. All the relevant parties were interested in the issues raised during the meeting and we are seeking to integrate the agreements.”

He also appreciated Iran for the excellent arrangement and management of the summit.

Asked about his country’s economic ties with Iran, Putin said that the two states’ trade exchanges are on the increase.
