Iranian and Turkmen presidents in a meeting on the sidelines of the second summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States here in Tehran on Tuesday laid emphasis on the further expansion of relations. During the meeting, Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Turkmenistan’s Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow also viewed Tehran-Ashgabat ties as positive, and called for the bolstering of mutual cooperation.
They also underlined the need for the current summit of the Caspian states to produce results, and viewed the meeting as a significant step towards achievement of further agreements.
Elsewhere in the meeting, the Turkmen president called for the rapid implementation of a railroad project which is due to link Iran and Kazakhstan via Turkmenistan, and stressed that the plan would play an effective role in the further expansion of regional ties, particularly the economic relations of the three countries
