Vice-Speaker of the Iranian parliament Mohammad Reza Bahonar said the second summit of the heads of Caspian Sea littoral states in Tehran indicated success of Iran’s strategy for sparking regional and international convergence through dialogue and understanding. Addressing an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here on Wednesday, Bahonar voiced pleasure in the successful arrangement and conclusion of the summit.
He further reminded that the Tehran statement was the first agreement signed by all the littoral states on the Caspian affairs, and said the summit would leave significant effects on the promotion of collective cooperation among regional countries.
The lawmaker also noted bilateral meetings of the Iranian president and supreme leader with the attending heads of state, saying that the meetings would help improvement and promotion of mutual ties.
He said the summit would leave positive and constructive effects on cooperation and understanding among the littoral states as well as regional and global peace and security.
The MP reminded that the Caspian Sea summit could achieve remarkable successes in different areas despite intense negative propaganda by the Western media, which strove hard to foil Putin’s visit to Tehran.
“This summit indicated success of Iran’s strategy for sparking regional and international convergence through dialogue and understanding,” he said, describing the successfulness of the summit as among the ample successes of the Islamic Republic diplomacy.
