Ahmadinejad Underlines Iran’s Resolve to Restore Rights

A01853727.jpgThe Iranian nation has always favored talks and negotiations, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, adding that his country is ready to negotiate with the West about everything but its rights. Addressing a congregation of Iranian expatriates in Armenia on Tuesday, the president noted the psychological war launched by certain western countries against Iran’s nuclear progress, and said that West was suffering miscalculations as it had underestimated the Iranian nation.

He underlined that peace and friendship is typical of the Iranians, and continued, “We have never intended to invade another country, but they (western powers) should know that such winds may not cause shivering of the Iranian nation.”

The president reiterated that the Iranian nation may not retreat from its nuclear stances even for an inch.

He pointed to the 28-year-long sanctions imposed by the West on Iran, and said, economic pressures by the West have backfired as they forced the Iranian nation to rely on itself, make progress and gain self-sufficiency in the needed fields.

Ahmadinejad reiterated once again that Iran’s nuclear case has come to an end “because members of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are entitled to possess nuclear fuel (production) cycle, and no one can strip them of this right under any pretext.”

He said that his country’s nuclear dossier has now been returned from the UN Security Council to the IAEA, and continued, “Now the Agency is carrying out its supervisions. Therefore, we believe that the political game certain states devised in an effort to block the Iranian nation’s progress has ended in complete failure.”

“Some have announced that if Iran suspends its (enrichment) activities they would sit to the negotiating table, but they don’t know that although the Iranian nation favors talks, it may never negotiate about its rights,” Ahmadinejad stressed, referring to the recent statements made by his US counterpart George Bush.

“The Iranian nation is a peace-loving nation favoring talks, but it may not give up even an iota of its rights,” he reiterated.

He also underlined the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear drive, and renewed his offer for transferring Iran’s home-grown nuclear technology to other IAEA member states under the supervision of the UN nuclear watchdog agency.
