Quake Hits Southern Iran

A001211614.jpgAn earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted the towns of Khonj and Evaz in Iran’s southern province of Fars on Monday. The seismological base of Fars province affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 02:53 hours local time (23:27 Saturday night GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area measuring 53.7 degrees in longitude and 27.7 degrees in latitude.

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake.
