TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, cautioned Iranian officials not be deceived by enemies’ plots.
“The mischievous words uttered by the aliens should not turn into a barrier deterring our countries’ nuclear progress,” Velayati, who served as Iran’s foreign minister for 16 years, told a student gathering in the northeaster city of Mashhad Thursday night.
Velayati’s statement followed a report by 16 US intelligence agencies which said Iran is not pursuing any military nuclear drive at present, but meantime alleged that Tehran had halted its nuclear weapons program due to international pressures in 2003.
