Big Iran PV Investment

A00581634.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran has signaled a strong interest in solar power, and plan to build the Middle East’s biggest photovoltaic plant in the tourist city of Yazd.Muhammad Ali Vahdati, the managing director of Iran’s national electricity company said that the country had 45GWp of power capacity and needed to add 4-5GWp of new power plants each year.

Mr. Vahdati also mentioned that private companies will be made responsible for the realization of PV power plant production.

ENF can confirm a recent build up of interest from Iran’s private sector, as we have received several enquiries from Iranian companies looking for assistance in sourcing PV production equipment in recent months (looking to build panel manufacturing factories from 10-25MWp in size).
