TEHRAN (FNA) – Tehran’s Interim Friday Prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati condemned Israel’s barbaric raid on Gaza, and criticized human rights bodies as well as heads of Islamic states for their silence towards the human catastrophe prevailing in Gaza Strip.
“What are the leaders of Islamic countries doing? They have sufficed to their proposal for a UN condemnation of the attack on Gaza. But, they should know that this is not enough?” Jannati said, addressing a large congregation of worshippers on Tehran University campus here on Friday.
He further expressed deep sorrow over the recent stances adopted by the Muslim heads of state on the issue of Gaza.
Jannati also slammed the indifference shown by the Muslim clerics and al-Azhar University figures to the Israeli raid on Gaza, and said, “Don’t you study the holy Koran and traditions? Doesn’t the holy Koran require you to cry out to save the oppressed? Why don’t you condemn Zionists’ atrocities, why don’t you stage rallies, why don’t you motivate the public to move against the Zionists and why don’t you stand up to defend against the usurpers?”
Ayatollah Jannati praised the Iranian president, parliament members, students and people for their sympathy for the oppressed and defenseless people of Gaza.
