Leader Calls For Greater Unity Among Revolution Loyalists

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on all loyalists to the Islamic Revolution to maintain unity and to ignore minor and unimportant issues.
“This year was named the year of national unity and that means that the family of the revolution reinforces its unity day by day without paying heed to minor and unimportant quarrels,” Ayatollah Khamenei told visitors from East Azerbaijan Province during a gathering held on Sunday to mark the eve of the anniversary of the February 18, 1978 uprising of the Tabrizi people against the monarchist regime, which was a turning point in the lead-up to victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The Leader called the next month’s parliamentary election an opportunity to manifest the nation’s participation in the social events of the country. “I always insist on the massive and enthusiastic participation of the people because their presence at the ballot boxes runs contrary to the desire of the enemies.”

He said the electorate should vote for candidates who better promote the objectives of the Islamic Revolution and “this has nothing to do with (political) factions and names.”

Problems can be solved by pursuing the objectives of the Islamic Revolution, the Leader noted.

“Those who believe in Islam and the slogans of the Islamic Revolution and have talent should enter the decision-making centers.”

The Leader also said that Iran is determined to elevate its international status and become a model for other nations by relying on its indigenous potential.

“The Iranian nation is determined to become a powerful and scholarly nation with a superior international status through taking steps within the framework of the government’s macro-economic plans, realizing the specified plans, and reviving historical and cultural treasures,” the Supreme Leader underlined.

Although 29 years have passed since the Islamic Revolution, the participation of people in the celebrations marking the victory of the revolution on February 11 was much more “vibrant” than previous years and this is due to the “liveliness of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation”, he said.

Those who in previous years “suddenly and enthusiastically” said Iranians, especially the youth, have lost interest in the revolution and the Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, were mistaken because the revolution and its objectives are now more popular among Iranians than in the past and the people show more interest in those officials who “pay more attention to the slogans of the Islamic Revolution.”

The Leader went on to say that the reason behind all the political and economic pressure imposed on and even military threats against Iran is that the enemies are worried about the strong will of the Iranian nation to take steps in line with the ideals and values of the revolution with full speed and with an insistence on national confidence.

A prosperous Islamic Revolution would jeopardize the interests of global powers in the Islamic world, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

Referring to U.S. President George W. Bush’s calls for increasing pressure on Iran to force it to give up its right to nuclear energy, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Despite the fact that they know Iran is not seeking nuclear arms, they make such a claim to halt Iranian nation’s access to the technology through relying on its national talents and capabilities; because achieving this capability without a help from others will revive the spirit of self-confidence among Muslims.”

He said resistance against the U.S. and other powers is the only way to achieve success and gain nuclear rights.

“The Iranian nation announces that it will defend its (nuclear) rights and will gain its rights by resisting all propagandas and pressures because if it doesn’t do so it will be impeached by God.
