TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country and Russia could play a key role in “shaping new international relations” through promoting ties.
In a meeting with the acting secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Valentin Sobolev, in Tehran on Wednesday, President Ahmadinejad said that cooperation between Iran and Russia is in the best interests of the two nations and also serves regional and global security, press tv reported.
Sobolev, for his part, said that Russia does not endorse unilateral policies, adding that today there are new centers of power in the world that cannot be ignored.
The Russian official reiterated that Russia will not withdraw its support for Iran’s right to develop peaceful nuclear technology.
Sobolev said that he had conveyed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Ahmadinejad which reiterated Moscow’s policy on Iran.
