FACTBOX: Security developments in Iraq, Aug 23

(Reuters) – Following are security developments in Iraq at 1200 GMT on Saturday.

NEAR BAIJI – Gunmen killed four members of a U.S.-backed neighborhood patrol in a drive-by shooting at their checkpoint just south of Baiji, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR BAQUBA – Militants kidnapped eight men in a raid on their town just south of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAQUBA – A roadside bomb killed one person in eastern Baquba, police said.

BAQUBA – A roadside bomb wounded two rubbish collectors in southern Baquba, police said.

BAGHDAD – U.S. forces detained 13 suspected militants while targeting al Qaeda in different parts of Iraq on Friday and Saturday, the U.S. military said.
