Makhmalbaf to Judge at Pusan Filmfest

A00219801.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Award-winning Iranian filmmaker Samira Makhmalbaf is slated to serve on the jury of the 2008 Pusan International Film Festival.

Makhmalbaf will be joined by German producer Karl Baumgartner, Indian filmmaker Santosh Sivan and Korean actress Lee Hwa-si to judge the festival’s New Current Award.

The jury for the PIFF’s only competitive feature film award will be headed by French actress Anna Karina, press tv reported.

Although she is one of Iran’s youngest filmmakers, Makhmalbaf has received numerous international awards including the Prix du Jury of Cannes Film festival in 2000 and 2003 and the UNESCO Award of Venice Film Festival in 2002.

The 28-year-old will also attend the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival as a guest speaker in the event’s Talent Lab. She is the successful director of Blackboard and Apple.

The 13th edition of the Pusan International Film Festival will be held from Oct. 2 to 10 in South Korea.
