Qatari Emir Dismisses PGCC Confrontation with Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Emir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani said in Damascus quadripartite meeting that the problem between the United Arab Emirates and Iran on three Persian Gulf Islands should be solved peacefully.

Responding to a question by BBC reporter, the emir said, “Qatar as the rotating president of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) wants to face peacefully with the member countries problems.”

He went on to say, “Concerning Iran and UAE problem on the three islands, the member states do not want confrontation with Iran.”

Damascus quadripartite meeting with presence of Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy, Bashar Al-Assad, Emir Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was held in Damascus on Thursday.
