Mubarak on Sunday headed the funeral services of former Defense Minister Mohammad Abdullah Abdulhalim Abu Ghazala who passed away at the age of 75 after a long fight against a chronic disease.
The funeral was attended by top state officials.
The deceased was appointed Chief of the army’s staff and general commander of the army from 1982-89. Abu Ghazala was also Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
He participated in the revolution of July 23, 1952 and also took part in the Palestine and October 1973 wars.
Abu Ghazal has gained several honor medals during his military service and also was the author of a number of books on military science.
