“The economy of the world is tied to – and depends on – the geography of the Persian Gulf. So, the registration of the Persian Gulf as a natural heritage site of the world will strengthen Iran’s ties with the Persian Gulf littoral states,” Fazeli, Director of the Archeology Research Center of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) said.

According to press tv, he added that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognizes the geographic and cultural site as the “Persian Gulf”.

The official said that archeologists have consistently been interested in the Persian Gulf, adding, “The Persian Gulf and cultural relations among its littoral states began to be important 10,000 years ago.”
