UAE Sets Mind on Tehran-Tokyo Route

A01468325.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- The United Arab Emirates has made a tempting offer to Iran’s state airline to purchase Tehran-Tokyo flight route.

UAE’s financial offer is so remarkable that Iran Air officials are willing to review the offer, IRNA quoted an informed source as saying.

Iran Air officials believe that the airline will manage to make up the $190 billion loss it sustained last year if it could sell Tehran’s direct route to Tokyo, the source added.

Spokesman of Iran’s state airline, Iran Air, Reza Jafarzadeh, however, rejected a report on the probable halt of the airline’s direct flights to Japan.

There are reports of a possible suspension of reservations and flights on the Tehran-Tokyo route as of October 26.

Iran Air has been making two direct flights weekly to Tokyo on Boeing SP-747s since 1974. It is one the oldest international routes of the airline.
