Chinese Envoy Confers with Iranian Lawmaker

A04090031.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Xie Xiaoyan conferred with the chairman of the Iranian parliament’s Energy Commission, Mehdi Katouzian, on matters of mutual interest.

At the meeting, Katouzian expressed pleasure about the growing trend of bilateral commercial and industrial ties and said that Iran is one of the most important countries in terms of energy and is eager to increase exchanges with China in the fields of oil and gas technologies.

Underlining the need to set up a joint economic commission which will pave the way for the participation of Chinese investors in Iran’s energy and industry sectors, Katouzian further said that the commission will help promote exchanges in all fields, IRNA reported.

Calling for the removal of problems hindering the development of economic ties between the two countries, he also urged the ambassador to support the Tehran-North Expressway project to link the capital to the lush Caspian coast.

He also pointed to the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities.

Xiaoyan, for his part, voiced his country’s interest in developing ties with Iran in various fields and said that the country is considered the second commercial partner of China in the Middle East.

It can become the first partner with the expansion of ties in the energy sector, he said.
