Iran’s foreign minister says Tehran and Caracas have signed multi-billion-dollar agreements in the energy, methanol and industrial fields.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro in Tehran, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the two sides also reviewed the prospects of other joint projects.
“We also reviewed a planned joint fund, discussed between Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez over the past two years,” he added.
Maduro praised Iran, saying the country has set an example for the world to follow. The Venezuelan foreign minister described the cooperation between the two countries as ‘unprecedented in the history of Venezuela’.
Commenting on an upcoming joint military exercises between Venezuela and Russia, Maduro said Caracas has signed a number of military pacts with Moscow, as well as Paris.
Venezuela and Russia will hold joint military exercises in the Latin American country’s territorial water in December and November.
