Livni says ‘Annapolis’ peace talks will continue

Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni has underlined her commitment to continue peace talks.Greeting French counterpart Bernard Kouchner, the Israeli Prime Minister-in-waiting said she would press ahead with US-sponsored peace negotiations.

‘‘We need to work on two levels, to push forwards the pragmatic and moderate elements and also to fight the extremists, because if we only proceed on one level, peace will not reach its full fruition and move forward to become real peace which changes reality, said Livni.

Earlier, French Foreign Minister Kouchner praised out-going Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for recently saying peace could only happen through a withdrawal from the occupied territories.

Livni is in the process of putting together a coalition government.

On Monday, acting leader Olmert will travel to Moscow for high-level talks with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
