Lahoud, talking to reporters in Tehran, said his visit is aimed at “thanking Iran for its positive role in Lebanon.”

Lahoud made the remarks in a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

Lahoud also praised the recent visit to Iran by Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun.

Lebanon’s Christians, according to Lahoud, are “open to the world.”

The meeting between Mustaqbal and Hezbollah leaders Saad Hariri and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, respectively, was an “important positive step along the march for national unity.”
