Iran Minister Attends SESAME Council

A01854114.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Minister of Sciences, Researches and Technology Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi arrived in Amman, Jordan, Monday morning to attend the opening ceremony of one of the phases of SESAME project.

Zahedi is visiting Amman at the invitation of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Koichiro Matsuura..

Iran attends the ceremony as a member of SESAME council, and the science ministers of Turkey, Pakistan and Jordan take part at the ceremony as well, the Islamic republic news agency said.

SESAME stands for Synchrotron light for Experimental Science and its Applications in the Middle East.

SESAME started its work under the auspices of UNESCO in 2001 and followed by Jordan in the Middle East region.

SESAME functions in environmental, medical, nanotechnology and biological sciences.
