TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here on Sunday the US has been pursuing a failed policy in the Middle East region.
Mottaki made the remark in a meeting with outgoing Jordanian Ambassador to Tehran Ahmad Jalal al-Mefleh.
At the meeting, Mottaki lauded the efforts of the outgoing ambassador during his tenure in Iran which resulted in expansion of ties between the two countries and said diplomacy has a very sensitive nature which bears fruits in the course of time.
In recent years, Washington has done its best to safeguard the interests of the Zionist regime mostly in its confrontation with Arab countries and tried to prevent repatriation of Palestinians to their motherland.
But, he added, many countries of the region reacted to the move and it seems that the political development in the Middle East would serve the interests of Muslims, the Islamic republic news agency reported.
The outgoing Jordanian ambassador, for his part, described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a big country and said that his mission in the country was a source of pride.
Jordan has always adopted an independent approach in dealing with Iran, he said, adding that the grounds for expansion of bilateral political and parliamentary cooperation is well-prepared.
He thanked Iranian officials for their sincere cooperation during his tenure, and said, “Now I leave Tehran with good memories.”
